Ackworth is a traditional co-educational, boarding and day school. For over 230 years, we have maintained a passion for teaching and learning. We are proud of our traditions and family values, but equally proud of our innovative approach to co-education.

Ackworth is a dynamic and forward-thinking school. We strive to develop resilient individuals who not only think creatively, but also act ethically and with responsibility. We encourage our students to express themselves with confidence, to embody the Quaker value of speaking respectfully to others, but also in a way that is true to themselves and their beliefs.

Located in a beautiful rural setting in Yorkshire, we offer broad educational opportunities from nursery age to sixth form, for day pupils and boarders.

We welcome international students to our school who are seeking a true British education experience. We specialise in providing help and support for the unique requirements of overseas students, and our staff understand how difficult it can be if you are living away from home for the first time. We usually have students from over 22 different nationalities on campus at any one time.

Ackworth School is located within the beautiful rural landscape of West Yorkshire. We have 70 acres of land which is used by the staff and students within our school, and we also have 200 acres of farmland surrounding the campus. Within the grounds, we have a 30m indoor heated swimming pool, vast courts and pitches for many different sporting games including hockey, football, cricket, tennis and many more. We are a Table Tennis England Academy and we have a specialised table tennis sports hall to adhere to the Table Tennis England standard, as well as our stand alone sports hall and squash courts. Ackworth school are also fortunate to have a Football Academy that is managed by ex-premier league player, coach and manager Jamie Fullarton.  Situated within the Fothergill House, we have an exceptional drama facility and a fully equipped theatre which seats up to 250 seated guests. We have a Music Centre on campus which enables our students to take up a variety of musical instruments as part of the curriculum or as an extra curricular activity. We offer over 50 extra curricular clubs and societies for our students so that they are able to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom.

The admission process at Ackworth school is made as straightforward as possible for our potential students.

Entry for our senior school is by school report, interview (where possible) and entrance tests.
These will involve Mathematics and English tests set by the School and a non verbal reasoning test.

Entry at age 13+ and 14+ is as at 11+, though the papers will be appropriate to the age of the child.

Entry for our Sixth Form is by school reference, interview and evidence of satisfactory GCSE grades.

Entrance tests usually take place in January, although individual tests take place throughout the year.

Our international students are considered on an individual basis. Students sit the Ackworth School English test and a current school report is requested, they would then have an interview with the Head, either in person or by Skype before an offer is issued.
